A few members of Sandra Cantu's family talked to the press at the child's public memorial site. Angie and Joe Chavez, the aunt and uncle, and Jose Chavez, her grandfather, thanked the Tracy community and media oulets for all the support and for keeping the focus on Sandra.
"She was an angel, complete innocent and if you saw her skipping in those last moments of that video without a care in the world and all of a sudden taken for absolutely no reason, doesn't that touch your heart? I think that's what touched other people's heart, too. Complete innocence taken. It's ridiculous," Joe Chavez said.
"She (Sandra) would be overwhelmed by the love. That's the kind of person she was," said Angie Chavez.
Police have served more than 15 search warrants and interviewed hundreds of people, however no arrests in connection to the homicide.
"It's ridiculous; it's absurd and it's gross; I want him and I want him bad...It's just sad that somebody would think...it's despicable that someone would kill this little girl, "said Joe Chavez about the person responsible for the Sandra's death.
When asked about Orchard Estates resident's being focus of FBI and Tracy investigators, Chavez said he's lived among good people the last 16 years at the mobile park.
"One bad apple doesn't ruin a whole community. So let's just find that bad apple and pluck it. "
