I Made It!
My mother made a bootleg video of the News 12 segment!
A big thank you to David Hennessey of the Greenwich Time, who wrote such an excellent article and thought nicely to mention the blog! =]
Greenwich Time- An enduring symbol of a town resident who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a Pomerance Park memorial bench now sits wrapped in yellow caution tape and missing some of its wooden slats, an apparent victim of vandalism.
The bench, which faces a small pond in the Cos Cob park off Orchard Street, features a plaque that reads, "In loving memory. Joe Lenihan. 9-11-01. He loved coming here with his family. Some people come into our lives, touch our hearts, and we are never, ever the same." Lenihan worked as an executive vice president for a financial services company on the 89th floor of the World Trade Center's south tower when terrorists attacked the buildings.
Lt. Kraig Gray, Greenwich Police spokesman, said Monday that the police department is aware of the damage and is considering it a vandalism. Part of the bench's backing was removed sometime over the last few weeks.
Police officers searched the area, but were unable to find the missing piece of bench, Gray said.
Lenihan's wife Ingrid Lenihan, whose family donated the bench to the town, said Monday the family did not know of the incident until they were alerted by Greenwich Time.
The town's Parks and Recreation Department is aware of the damage, she said.
"They already have a work order in to fix it, and it's going to be repaired," she said.
When the bench was being installed, town officials said public property can sometimes be subjected to vandalism, such as youths carving out their initials, she said.
"They kind of warned me," she said. "They said don't be alarmed if something like this happens. I kind of have to look at it that way, or it'll break my heart."
Calls left with the Parks and Recreation department were not returned Monday.
Cos Cob resident and blogger Krystle O'Connor said her mother and sister were walking in the park Thursday when they discovered that a chunk of the bench's backrest was gone, and yellow caution tape had been draped over it.
"We go there almost every day, so I'm sure it wasn't like that for long," O'Connor said, adding that she doesn't know who put the caution tape up.
"It was very precise looking," she said of the damage. "It was strange.
In the months prior to the incident, there had been a chip in the bench in the area that was damaged, she said.
"We were upset just with that," she said.
In her blog, O'Connor said her mother labeled the perpetrator a "hideous beast."
"It is so disgusting that someone would do such a thing," O'Connor wrote. "What a sick person."
O'Connor called on the person or persons who committed the act to come forward.
"It takes just one person to let the proper people know who's responsible for such a disgusting act, and it would clear his or her conscience," she wrote.

L.A. Officials Receive Video of Men Sexually Assaulting Disabled Women
Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators made a public appeal Thursday in seeking at least four men who were videotaped sexually assaulting at least 10 women who appear to be severely disabled, including women in a care home. The video came from 11 DVDs that an anonymous tipster dropped off last March at the Sheriff's Department headquarters in Monterey Park, California, said Sgt. Dan Scott.
The video was shot by a security camera and a handheld camera, Scott told reporters at a news conference.
One segment shows a woman victim wearing a diaper while in a wheelchair, Scott said.
Several locations are depicted in the video, including at least one place that appears to be a residential care facility, authorities said. Authorities don't know when or where the sexual assaults occurred.
Sgt. Diane Hecht told CNN that detectives are "starting from scratch" in their inquiry.
"We have victims, and we just don't know if the assaults are continuing. We have four suspects, and we need the public's help to take them into custody as soon as possible," Hecht told CNN.
"This is extremely serious. These women are developmentally disabled. It's awful to take advantage of anyone, but especially someone who could not defend themselves," Hecht said.
The more than 100 hours of video shows a sequence of at least 10 women being sexually assaulted by at least eight men, and investigators were able to develop composite drawings of four of the suspects, authorities said.
"The extremely disturbing videos are not being released to the public, but photos from portions of the video are being released in an effort to identify some of the suspects and at least one room depicted," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.
Detectives asked the tipster to call the anonymous Crime Stoppers communication system at 800-222-8477 and provide details on the video's origins. Investigators said members of the public can also call the special victim bureau's hot line at (866) 247-5877. Information can also be provided anonymously by texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637) or by accessing the Crime Stoppers website at www.lacrimestoppers.org.

Mayor Bill Finch Laughs off Family Guy's Shot at Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT -- When it comes to Bridgeport's appeal, Mayor Bill Finch says the last person people should trust is an animated talking baby named Stewie.
Sunday night's episode of Family Guy -- a two-hour Christmas special titled Road to the North Pole -- includes a shot at Bridgeport, which the show depicts as a worldwide leader in "wild dogs and gas stations without pumps" among other claims to infamy.
But Finch said Monday he's laughing off the criticism -- and using the spotlight as an opportunity to promote the city.
"First, we have to remember it's humor," Finch said. "I don't think anything in America is beyond Family Guy trying to make fun of it. It is by the way by Stewie, who we don't particularly like if you're a fan of Family Guy. ... He comes across as a smarty-pants and a know-it-all, so consider the source."
In the episode, Brian (a talking dog) and Stewie are outside the gates of what they believe to be Santa's Workshop.
The large doors swing open and the two are left standing at the foot of towering factories and black smoke billowing out of smokestacks.
As the duo looks on at the gloomy cityscape in front of them, Stewie remarks, "This can't be Santa's Workshop. This looks like Bridgeport, Connecticut!"
Brian retorts, "Oh boy, here come the letters."
The next scene shows a supposed Bridgeport resident (with, for whatever reason, a Boston accent), who speaks out loud as he writes, with a variety of curses and other angry exclamations mixed in, "I'll have you know that Bridgeport is among the world leaders in abandoned buildings, shattered glass, boarded-up windows, wild dogs and gas stations without pumps."
The Family Guy episode now joins the growing genre of the snarky urban putdown: A city or small town is insulted by late-night TV host/cartoon show/newspaper columnist, provoking a mostly feigned spasm of outrage from civic boosters and shrugs from most of the citizenry too busy to give a hoot. Harrisburg, Pa., Bayonne, N.J., Dubuque, Iowa, Youngstown, Ohio. Flint, Mich. The list goes on and on.
Finch was a good sport and figured the episode offered an opportunity to talk about the city's positive side.
"Bridgeport is much different than that," he said. "The image of Bridgeport has changed over the many years that I've lived here. It's a wonderful place to live. We've got great sources of entertainment in the city at the arena, the ballpark and the zoo and the discovery museum."
The image of Bridgeport as a decaying city filled with black smoke and old factories is one the city is trying to shake.
The Family Guy portrayal is a sharp contrast to the recent "Surprise, It's Bridgeport," ad campaign launched by Finch. The ads feature bright colors, the waterfront, the city's restaurants and nightlife and athletic events, culminating with Finch delivering the tagline while fly-fishing in the Pequonnock River.
Finch said the Family Guy letter-writer's Boston accent made the show's portrayal less credible, especially given Fairfield County's allegiance to the Yankees.
"You know, we're solidly Yankee fans down here, I think that's pretty clear," he said. "If it had a Bronx accent I think people would have been happy with it, but the fact that it had a Boston accent was particularly irritating, especially to the Yankee fans down here. It certainly made the segment less credible, and it still got you guys down here reporting about how wonderful Bridgeport is."

Video Thought to Show American Held in Afghanistan
KABUL, Afghanistan – A new video released by the Taliban shows a man believed to be the only known American serviceman held captive in Afghanistan, a group that tracks militant websites said Wednesday.Spc. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, has been held by the Taliban since June 30, 2009, when he disappeared in Paktika province in eastern Afghanistan. It was not immediately clear when the video was made.
The U.S.-based IntelCenter said that along with Berghdal, another man in the video appeared to be the Taliban commander who had once threatened to kill the U.S. soldier. The video, taken in a wooded area, shows Berghdal looking thin in a loose gray top, with bags under his eyes and what appeared to be an abrasion along his left cheekbone.
In July 2009, Taliban commander Mawlavi Sangin's spokesman told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that Berghdal would be killed unless the U.S. stops strikes in Ghazni province's Giro district and Paktika province's Khoshamand district.
The video, which also shows militant attacks in Afghanistan, was released by Manba al-Jihad, a video production group affiliated with the Taliban. The man believed to be Bergdahl appears only briefly in the video and is not the main focus.
The 24-year-old Bergdahl has appeared in three videos the Taliban released prior to this: on July 18, 2009; Dec. 25, 2009; and April 7.
Separately, two NATO service members died Wednesday following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan. The coalition did not disclose their nationalities or details about their deaths. So far this month, 12 members of the NATO coalition have been killed in Afghanistan. At least 671 have died so far this year.
The Afghan Defense Ministry on Wednesday condemned a coalition airstrike that it said mistakenly killed two Afghan soldiers on Tuesday afternoon. The ministry said in a statement that three other Afghan soldiers were wounded in the airstrike in Charkh district of Logar province in eastern Afghanistan.
NATO said it was investigating the incident.
On Tuesday, Afghan soldiers killed a suicide attacker who threatened to blow himself up at an Afghan army base in the Gereshk district of Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, the Afghan Defense Ministry said. The ministry did not disclose any other details of the incident.
Also in the south, one child was killed and two men were injured in a homemade bomb explosion in the Shahjoy district of Zabul province, said Mohammad Jan Rasoolyar, spokesman for the provincial governor

I DID NOT THINK OF THIS QUESTION TO ASK, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW!
Lol, they kinda fibbed about these videos coming from home, this first time around they had asked audience members before going in to ask these, and mine was rehearsed. Lol, I look crazy in the video, they asked me to look really enthusiastic.
Does anyone know how I can bootleg this onto youtube so I can always see myself on the segment??

Captured EVP of "Help Me" At Burying Hill Cemetery?
I was recording alone at Burying Hill Cemetery in Greenwich, Connecticut, and believe I might've captured a male voice saying "Help me"...
Does anyone else agree?

Old Cherry Orchard Cemetery - Possible EVP
On playback I notice an odd sound at 6 seconds, is it my phone or a weird voice?
Along with the sound I see two white rods that appear at about 13 seconds, make a vibration-like sound then disappear. Is that a video glitch? I know my video wasn't set to best quality on my cell phone, but I've never seen that before.
This cemetery is hidden off of Tod Lane on the corner of Taconic Road in Greenwich, CT.
I'm not sure the name of it and have a hard time pinpointing which one it'd be off of www.findagrave.com.

EVP at Fort Stamford?
I hope the visual annotation works so that you know when the exact whisper comes, but if not it's working you can hear it right at 12-13 seconds- I hear a voice whisper "hallah" after I ask if there are any more people left!!
This is a spot in Stamford where in 1999 a few people took a few visits to investigate activity- see about that here : http://krystle-ann.blogspot.com/2010/10/fort-stamford.html
EVP at Westover Cemetery?
I took this EVP at Westover Cemetery, Stamford, CT.
I was alone at the time, and feel I caught a voice saying a two syllable word starting with "sch" - like "shiven" or something similar. You can hear it at about 23 seconds, after I say "toppled over" and before I read the name "Robert". I feel it's a male voice saying it..
Feedback appreciated!
2nd Captured EVP in Westover Cemetery?
Captured EVP at St. John's Cemetery, Stamford
Okay so I was listening to this video, and *before* I heard myself saying the name Thomas, I heard a whispered "Thomas" at the end of the video.
I rewound it back and *then* heard me read off that name. It freaked me out, but I need everyone's opinion to whether or not you hear the voice.
Start the video at 45 seconds. Anything before is just me being silly, wandering around talking about how crazy it was all the stones were in such shabby shape, considering it's the church's responsibility to maintain them.
The supposed EVP comes right after me saying "They might be children".... RIGHT after, almost cutting off the word "children" is what I think a man's voice whispering "Thomas".
Crank the volume too, you can hear it better.
I was the only one in the cemetery at the time, my boyfriend Joe was with me but then went to wait in the car a block away- NO ONE was around me at all during this video.
I welcome all feedback, negative or positive.

Worker Killed in Trench by Concrete Slab
I drove down a little more and I see a road off of North Street bombarded with fire engines, cops, SUVs, anything they seem to have had available...
I was about to call my mother to ask if she heard anything on the online police scanner, when I see a text from her:
"FWD: The 911 Center: Greenwich- 2 MacPherson Drive. TRENCH RESCUE. Worker confirmed trapped beneath the soil"
Today I read in the paper that the worker died. Here's the article:
Greenwich Time- A man was killed Monday after a concrete slab collapsed on him, killing him instantly, as he worked below in a trench, officials said.First Selectman Peter Tesei, who also serves as the fire commissioner, said the trapped man's hand was visible to rescuers, but he did not have a pulse when rescuers arrived at 2 MacPherson Drive around 3 p.m. The home, which neighbors said had been unoccupied for some time, was undergoing major renovations. Tesei said it appeared construction workers had dug the 7-foot trench to do utility work when a concrete slab underneath the front door of the home gave way.
"I think there is a great deal of shock and sadness anytime something like this happens, but particularly to see the effects," Tesei said. "It is disturbing nonetheless. It's sad."A second worker who was in the area of the collapse sustained minor injuries during the accident and was taken to Greenwich Hospital. The names of both men were not released Monday, pending notification of their families. The man killed is believed to be under 30 years old, according to officials at the scene.
Specialized members of the Fire Department's trench rescue team responded, as well as volunteers from the Sound Beach Firehouse trench rescue team. Nearly two dozen firefighters were expected to work into the night to recover the man's body. Tesei said rescuers were being extra cautious so that no firefighters or other emergency workers were injured in the process.
As rescuers worked Monday evening, several bystanders who appeared to be either fellow workers or family members were seen crying and speaking with police before quickly leaving the area.Neighbors who gathered outside the driveway of the home Monday said they were saddened to learn about the tragic accident.
"It is unfortunate," said Linda Richards, who lives with her husband Phil across the street from the accident scene. Richards said she thought all the emergency works on scene were there to deal with power outages when she first arrived home.
Timothy Nolan, another neighbor, said he knew the accident was serious when he saw a news helicopter overhead. "That is when it dawned on me something serious had happened," said Nolan, a retired surgeon. "Whenever you do construction, there is always the possibility of a catastrophe."Both Richards and Nolan said they did not know who owned the home. Property records list several different names. There were no property tax records for the home listed online.
As of Monday evening, police and fire officials were awaiting the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner and representatives from the Occupational and Safety and Heath Administration to come investigate the incident.
Construction Worker Who Died In Trench Accident Identified
GREENWICH — Police have released the identity of a construction worker killed when a trench collapsed Monday.
Eric F. Chincilla, 27, of Stamford was working at a house construction site on Macpherson Drive when the accident happened, police said. A second worker was injured.
Firefighters trained in trench rescues worked to save the two men, police said. The condition and identity of the second man was not released as of early Tuesday afternoon.
The accident is being investigated by the police department and Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors.

Fatal crash on I-95 in Stamford
This video on News Channel 12 Connecticut shows the whole response, including the officer looking in the mangled mess for a victim...
Spooky, reminds me of their coverage of the fatal Darien crash that occurred right behind my boyfriend's house at the time..
STAMFORD -- A 20-year-old Easton woman was killed when the car in which she was a passenger struck two trees and a light pole off the right shoulder of Interstate-95 in Stamford early Friday morning.
The driver, Anthony Whittingham of Norwalk, allegedly fled on foot from the accident scene, which occurred at 2:09 a.m. Friday near the southbound Exit 9 of I-95, the Connecticut State Police said in an accident report. He was caught a short distance from the crash site.
Jessica Martucci of Silver Hill Road, Easton, died as a result of injuries suffered in the single car accident.
A second passenger, Jahmar Whittingham, of Bridgeport, was injured and taken to Stamford Hospital.
Authorities said Anthony Whittingham was driving a 2007 Volkswagon Jetta southbound at a high-rate of speed on the right-hand lane when he tried changing lanes. Instead the car veered off the right side of the highway and struck two trees and a light pole, causing the car to roll over onto its roof before coming to a rest in the center and left lanes of the highway.
Martucci sat in the front passenger seat and wore a seat-belt during the accident.
Criminal charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation by the state police.

(10/29/10) STAMFORD - State police say drunk driving was likely to blame for a crash that killed an Easton woman in Stamford early this morning.
It happened before 3 a.m. between exits 8 and 9 on the northbound side.
Police say Jessica Martucci, 20, of Easton, died at the scene. Another passenger, Jamar Whittingham, 29, of Bridgeport, ended up in serious condition at Stamford Hospital.

Grateful, he wrapped his arms around his friend and buried his face in his neck. With one last pat on Erikins arm, she left them to climb the staircase alone. He nodded, slid an arm about Irins shoulders, and led his truemate from the room. They had fought about it too often for Eyrhaen not to know what he meant. He kept everyone else safe from her while she fought for control. Shed dissolved the solid rock and reversed a spell that should have been more permanent. But maybe we could eat first? Tossing her ponytail behind her shoulders, Eyrhaen got to her knees and crawled forward. She could still turn away and leave. Were bound, I cant help that, but the two of you should be together. He says we need to all make our choices, and his heart chooses you. Now theres the Eyrie weve known all our lives. She groaned, twisting the wrists in Tykirs grasp, rotating the hips pinned under Lanthans weight. He wasnt talking to her. Dont stop, she begged, clutching sheets. Dangerously serious behind his smile, he dragged his gaze back up to meet hers. Without variety, our culture would grow evenmore stagnant. He sat in the chair, watching her. She was so close She freed her other hand so she could wrap both arms securely around his neck.
