A team of investigators are inspecting what is reported to be a suitcase with a red ribbon around it found at the bottom of a pond. It was found around 11:40 a.m. by farm workers in an irrigation pond.
Authorities will not confirm or deny that the discovery related to missing Sandra Cantu. Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said the pond was 'covered' in search prior to today.
No indications that remains are in suitcase, said Sgt. Tony Sheneman at brief afternoon news conference.

"We're out in the middle of nowhere looking at this scene," he said this evening. It would be very unusual for someone to just chuck something that big out here.
We don't know what's in there, but it doesn't look good at this point.
It is being processed with the utmost of care, Sheneman said. We have no indication that there is anything or anyone in that container, however, it's important in an investigation such as this that we proceed with caution. "
