Body Of Child Found In Suitcase In Tijuana

SAN DIEGO -- Mexican authorities said they found the mutilated body of a child inside a red suitcase in Tijuana Monday.

Authorities did not confirm whether or not it is the body of 8-year-old David Lizarraga Gomez, who has reported missing on Saturday.

Gomez was last seen at his home in Tijuana, and Mexican police issued an Amber Alert with his picture and what he was last seen wearing.

Mexican police said the body of a boy believed to be Gomez was found in an empty lot in Tijuana late Monday afternoon.

It is unclear how far away the body was found from the boy's home.

The Amber Alert was cancelled and the body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

Later, Mexican officials told 10News the boy's body was found with a plastic bag over his head and appeared to have been strangled. Authorities said one person, a family member, was taken into custody.
