As a native New Yorker, I can tell you the real story you don't (or rarely) see, read, or hear is the absolute irresponsibility with the re-building of the World Trade Center.
First there was the controversy over whether we should actually re-build, the memorial, etc., which has been resolved (in my opinion) with an ugly memorial and the Freedom Tower.
But that notwithstanding (and I think if voted today there would be an overwheming majority in favor of re-building the World Trade Center)the fact that NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE is next to criminal.
The Empire State Buidling was built in 13 months (!!!) with HIGH STANDARD materials (1931), not the CRAP we use today. AND WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR YEARS. ROBERT MOSES IS TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE.
