Sandusky's Own Son Alleges Abuse

I love how the only argument I ever hear from coming the defense is that all these people are just looking for money.  What a joke.

 

Yahoo- Just hours after the sex abuse trial of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky wrapped up on Thursday, his adopted son revealed that he had been "a victim of Jerry Sandusky's abuse" and had offered to testify against his father.

It is unclear whether prosecutors were prepared to put Matt Sandusky on the stand. But NBC News reports that Jerry Sandusky's defense team decided against having the former coach testify on his own behalf after they learned that prosecutors planned to call a new witness -- believed to be Matt Sandusky.

Earlier Thursday, the jury of seven women and five men began their deliberations on the 48 charges levied against Sundusky. They are sequestered and there have been no indication when they might deliver a verdict. 

Those jurors heard both Jerry Sandusky's defense attorney and the lead prosecutor in the case deliver pointed closing arguments. Defense attorney Joe Amendola painted the former coach as a man victimized by overagressive cops, social works and even the media. In response, Deputy Attorney General Joseph E. McGettigan III dismissed the concept that Jerry Sandusky was targeted by anyone - an idea that would have required dozens of people to conspire of more than a decade.

"It's not about conspiracies, it's not about time-travel conspiracies, it's not about people making financial fortunes," McGettigan said. "… It collapses under itself."

The explosive disclosure that Matt Sandusky had offered to testify came following the release of a statement from lawyers Andrew Shubin and Justine Andronici, who represent two alleged victims of Jerry Sandusky.

"During the trial, Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky's abuse," the statement reads. "At Matt's request, we immediately arranged a meeting between him and the prosecutors and investigators."

The statement continued: "This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt and he has asked us to convey his request that the media respect his privacy."

Matt Sandusky moved into the Sandusky home when he was 11, having been involved in Second Mile, the charity for troubled children founded by Jerry Sandusky in 1977. Prosecutors have said Jerry Sandusky used Second Mile to find his abuse victims. Earlier in the trial, it was disclosed that Matt Sandusky's former wife, Jill Jones, sought a restraining order in 2011 to prevent her former father-in-law from hosting sleep-overs with the couple's three young children. 

The Associated Press also reported that Matt Sandusky attempted to commit suicide in 1995, several months after he moved into the Sandusky home. Matt Sandusky's biological mother, Debra Long, has claimed that Jerry Sandusky effectively 'stole' her son, and told a grand jury considering the charges against the former coach that Matt was upset about staying with his adoptive father.

(CBS, May 31 2002) At her Catholic school, sixth-grader Christina Long made good grades, led the cheerleading squad and was an altar girl. On the Internet, she used provocative screen names and routinely had sex with partners she met in chat rooms, police said.

Police said 13-year-old Christina was strangled by a married restaurant worker she met on the Internet. Her body was found early Monday in a remote ravine in Greenwich.

Saul Dos Reis, 25, an undocumented immigrant from Brazil, confessed Sunday to the killing and led law officers to the body, U.S. Attorney John Danaher III said.

Classes were canceled Tuesday at the St. Peter School so students and parents could attend a memorial service and meet with grief counselors.

"I'm so devastated," former teacher Andrea Cappiello said.

"She was a very good student and a very good cheerleader. She was very spirited, just a doll," said Cappiello, who taught Christina's fifth-grade English and religion classes.

But the girl also had a tougher side, Cappiello said.

"She was streetwise," she said. "But you could see the other side coming up, too. It's clear she was very torn in both directions."

Dos Reis was arraigned Monday in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport on a charge of using an interstate device — the Internet — to entice a child into sexual activity. He was ordered held without bond. A bail hearing was scheduled for Friday.

Police said the teen-ager routinely had sex with partners she met on the Internet and that she had been with Dos Reis several times, The News-Times of Danbury reported.

Authorities found e-mail indicating that the two had agreed to meet Friday night. Dos Reis told police he accidentally strangled Christina while they were having sex in his car in a mall parking lot, The News-Times reported.

Police said Dos Reis then dumped her body about 25 miles away.

Harold Pickerstein, Dos Reis' court-appointed attorney, declined to comment on the allegations but said he expected his client to plead innocent.

Pickerstein criticized Danaher for releasing details of the alleged confession.

"It's inappropriate, in my opinion, to discuss evidence in a case in which there has not even been a charge or an indictment," Pickerstein said.

Christina came to Danbury two years ago to live with her aunt, Shelly Rilling, because her parents had substance abuse problems.

Rilling, who was eventually awarded custody of the girl, has declined to comment. Police said she apparently did not know anything about her niece's online activities.

"There was some pretty graphic stuff," Police Chief Robert Paquette said.

Police said Dos Reis used the screen name "Hot es300," apparently referring to a Lexus model.

Dos Reis has lived in the United States since he arrived here from Brazil at age 10, Paquette said. He attended Greenwich High School and had no criminal record.

He lives in a rented apartment with his wife, a receptionist, and worked long hours at his father-in-law's restaurant in nearby Port Chester, N.Y., neighbor Omar Moreno said.

Monday night, Danbury residents gathered to voice their concerns about the violence in their community.

"It's an opportunity for parents and children to come in and talk a little bit about their feelings. And we have counselors that are in there. They'll certainly be able to express their feelings about the tragedy that has happened to the city," Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton told Hartford, Conn. CBS affiliate WFSB.

Speaking about her son, Beverly Stevens said: "Even though he's 13 years old, he has to ask me every time he goes on and he has to let me know which sites he's going on. And he's never on the Internet without my being there."

Claims of Abuse at San Diego Church

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Lawyers for nearly 150 people who claim they were sexually abused by Roman Catholic priests in the San Diego Diocese released thousands of pages of previously sealed church documents on Sunday with details of complaints against the priests that include medical records and correspondence between priests and their superiors.

A judge ruled on Friday that roughly 10,000 pages of internal records could be made public after a years-long legal battle between those who claimed abuse and the diocese. The records are from the personnel files of 48 priests who were either credibly accused or convicted of sexual abuse or named in a civil suit.

The 144 plaintiffs settled with the diocese in 2007 for nearly $200 million; the agreement provided that an independent judge would determine what personnel records could be made public.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs said the files showed how much the diocese knew about abusive priests, starting decades before any allegations became public, and that some of the accused priests were shuffled from parish to parish or overseas. A spokeswoman for the diocese did not immediately return a call.

The papers include documents from the files of the Rev. Anthony Rodrigue. In 1976, a group of parents at Father Rodrigue’s parish, in Heber, Calif., complained that he had molested their children. He was sent to a psychiatric facility but was put back into the ministry despite the recommendations of those who treated him.

Watching the media expose a snake oil salesman before his peers, revealing what he truly is.

In the case of Bishop Eddie Long, the leader of Atlanta’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, he is being exposed as a manipulative, homosexual hypocrite along the lines of Larry Craig and Mark Foley. The man marched against same sex marriage, and his anti-gay stance was so tough that civil rights leaders refused to attend the funeral of Coretta Scott King that was held at his megachurch.

But surprise, surprise, the good old gay-hating bishop was doing what he could to make life for gays miserable in one hand, while allegedly caressing the dicks of 17-year-old boys in the other. Four young men have now came forward, charging Long with using his position to force them into sexual relationships while treating them to gifts, trips in private planes and stays in luxury hotels. Long cancelled a few scheduled interviews where he was to address these charges, promising to address them in his Sunday sermon.

“It will be tried in the court of justice, and dealt with in the court of justice,” Long told 8,000 parishioners on Sunday. “I feel like David, against Goliath, but I’ve got five rocks, and I haven’t thrown one yet.” Although there was loud bleating applaud from his flock, interviews afterwards showed mixed reactions.

B.J. Bernstein, the lawyer for Spencer LaGrande, Jamal Parris, Maurice Robinson and Anthony Flagg, has said she has proof of the relationships between Long and her clients in the form of photos, texts and e-mails. Some of these pictures are already making their rounds on the Internet, showing Long posing before a mirror in a variety of muscle shirt outfits. ”What pastor in his right mind sends a picture from himself, posing in his bathroom in a muscle shirt?” Bernstein said. “None that I know of — especially one who is a committed homophobe.” lol, I know, right?

Rumors are that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and that more victims will surely come forward. In the meantime I will sit back in watch in amazement. Not at Long’s continual denial of all of the charges despite the very incriminating evidence (I mean come on, who sends pics of themselves to young boys dressed as Milli Vanilli?) but rather the members of his church who will continue to stand by him and put money in his pockets.
