Meryl Streep's Haunted Connecticut Estate

I had no idea Meryl even had a house in Connecticut! I love Meryl Streep!

I did a bit of research and learned that her house is in Salisbury.

According to the Times of India:

“Everybody was down at the pool… and I was gathering all the stuff. We were doing some work on the house and we were living in the guesthouse and I was downstairs sitting at a desk and I heard what sounded like a grand piano fall… in the room above my head,” the Daily Express quoted Streep as saying.

“My first thought was that it was one of the kids… I screamed upstairs and halfway up the stairs the hairs stood up… and I realised no one was home. I searched (the rooms)… and there was nothing out of place, there was nothing in the attic, there was nothing on the roof,” she said.

She had a similar experience again after a few years, when her sculptor husband invited some clients from Japan to stay in the guesthouse.

“They had taken the 22-hour flight and had dinner and fallen asleep… They were so tired… We put them all in the house and the next morning (husband) Don went up to collect them… and there they all were in the living room, dressed, wide awake… They said, ‘Spirit, spirit!” she said.

Goodbye, Remington Arms!

This well-known paranormal hot spot was not just notorious for it's ghostly activity, but also known for being quite an eyesore.  So they're demolishing it.

I just drove by it, intact, about two weeks ago with Joe and commented on how it was a long while ago that they said they  announced plans to demolish it.  Well, a few days later they got crackin'.

General Electric owns the property after buying in 1920, and took nearly 100 years to make any changes.

I wonder if demolition will rid the site of all those spirits? The article below states that it might be the site of a newly built high school.  Ut-ohhhhh.  Lol.

CT Post- The demolition of the historic General Electric plant on Boston Avenue is nearly complete.
Built by Remington Arms in 1915 to supply munitions to czarist Russian troops, the landmark row of 13 interconnected, five-story buildings was sold to General Electric in 1920 and was officially shut down in 2007. Almost all of the bricks and broken concrete from the structure are being used to fill tunnels and flatten the property for future development, which could include a new Harding High School.

Captured EVP of "Help Me" At Burying Hill Cemetery?

I was recording alone at Burying Hill Cemetery in Greenwich, Connecticut, and believe I might've captured a male voice saying "Help me"...
Does anyone else agree?

3rd EVP Captured at Westover Cemetery?

I visited back to Westover Cemetery, where I heard a pretty clear EVP of a man whispering something sounding like "shiven". (see this video):
http://krystle-ann.blogspot.com/2010/11/2nd-evp-at-westover-cemetery.html

I was alone again, recording, and may have picked up another whispering response, or might be normal cell phone sounds- opinions welcome!

EVP Captured at Cat Rock Road Cemetery?

I was alone and recording at a small cemetery off of Cat Rock Road, in Cos Cob, Connecticut.

At about 14 seconds I picked up what might be faint whispering while I'm talking, or could be the cell phone.
Opinions welcome!

EVP Captured at Bible Street Cemetery?

This cemetery was once known as Timpany Cemetery, for most of it's interments are of the Timpany family.

I was alone at the time and believe I hear someone else sighing while I finish my sentence. I also recorded a small knock that I do not remember hearing while recording.

Opinions welcome!

Las Vegas High School Teacher Commits Suicide In School Courtyard

Laying down the groundwork for future ghost stories...

Dreamin' Demon, Las Vegas- For reasons that are still unknown, 58-year-old Michael Roberts shot and killed himself in the courtyard of Western High School Monday afternoon.

At around 2:30 p.m. 911 was called after a single gunshot was heard on campus. Police would find Roberts, a science teacher at the school, lying dead in the courtyard from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

School was not in session due to an administrative holiday, but officials said staff members and some student-athletes were on campus at the time. One teacher who worked with Roberts spoke to him hours before the shooting and said everything seemed fine. Rumors of Roberts being sick have also began circulating but no one knows for sure why Roberts decided to end his life in this manner or why he chose to do it at the school.

Grief counselors have been on campus since the students returned to school on Wednesday and the district’s crisis response team has been there since the shooting.

EVP at Fort Stamford?

I hope the visual annotation works so that you know when the exact whisper comes, but if not it's working you can hear it right at 12-13 seconds- I hear a voice whisper "hallah" after I ask if there are any more people left!!

This is a spot in Stamford where in 1999 a few people took a few visits to investigate activity- see about that here : http://krystle-ann.blogspot.com/2010/10/fort-stamford.html

Captured EVP at St. John's Cemetery, Stamford

Okay so I was listening to this video, and *before* I heard myself saying the name Thomas, I heard a whispered "Thomas" at the end of the video.

I rewound it back and *then* heard me read off that name. It freaked me out, but I need everyone's opinion to whether or not you hear the voice.

Start the video at 45 seconds. Anything before is just me being silly, wandering around talking about how crazy it was all the stones were in such shabby shape, considering it's the church's responsibility to maintain them.

The supposed EVP comes right after me saying "They might be children".... RIGHT after, almost cutting off the word "children" is what I think a man's voice whispering "Thomas".

Crank the volume too, you can hear it better.

I was the only one in the cemetery at the time, my boyfriend Joe was with me but then went to wait in the car a block away- NO ONE was around me at all during this video.

I welcome all feedback, negative or positive.

Fort Stamford

A few photos from Fort Stamford, supposedly haunted according to this site (well, at least it was supposed to be 11 years ago..) This is just up the road from Westover Cemetery..

I took a few pictures, but made more videos than snapshots..

--------------------------

Just in case the angelfire site somehow becomes extinct, I'll copy over the information:

"Our investigation of Ft. Stamford began after hearing a story that took place about 20 years ago at the site. The witness explained to us about a friend of hers that would go to the fort at night with his highschool friends and hold seances. He did this several times until on one occasion, he was suddenly pulled back from the rest of his group by a force he couldn't see and was rolled backwards on the ground. The witness then explained how, a few years later, this friend took her to the fort, though he had not been back since his encounter. She explained about how she thought she saw someone ducking in and out of the trees of the area, and she then got out of the car where they were sitting and began walking around the site until she saw a large, black, charred circle in the grass. She then walked around the cirlce and leaned down to touch it when she heard a clanking sound (she compared this sound to the clinking of a dogs chain). She then reported hearing heavy, quick footsteps coming towards her and then being pounced on by something she couldn't see. She began to struggle with the invisible "attacker" until her friend came over and helped her up and showed her that nothing was there. She has never been back since.

She explained this story to us in hopes that we would visit the site, and, perhaps, we would be able to explain what happened.

Our group of investigators has been to this several times, and has encountered several different ghosts and spirits. It seems that there are spirits and ghosts hauntng the site from several different eras. Our group has encountered ghosts that are believed to be from the Revolutionary war fort itself. There was also a rather large house located at the site that burned down for reasons we have not been able to determine. It is also believed that the area is sacred ground for the native americans that used to inhabit the area. All of our encounters, as well as the theory's behind some of the events, are included in our reports.

Due to our last interview with our witness, our final theory on Ft. Stamford has been determined and the case has been closed. PSIG theorized that an "astral rip" was created either purposely or accidentally in the area near a fort turret that appears as a mound with a pit in the middle. Our witness confirmed that the mound was the original site of several seances performed by teenagers. She also confirmed that the spirit that "attacked her" came from the direction of the pit. Due to this confirmation, we are lead to believe that the seances accidentally opened a rip between the earth plane and the astral plane, and, whenever the proper energy is available (from a focus or medium) certain spirits may temporarily come through the rip. PSIG believes that one of these spirits "attacked" the witness, and perhaps our researchers."

----------------------------------

I'd love to come back to this place at night... I recorded inside of "the pit" or what I think is the pit... There are a few different foundations, or what seem to be foundations on the site, and I'm guessing the actual fort must've been positioned on the large mound in first picture. Behind the memorial garden (not photographed) was another mound, smaller in size, and I'm wondering what role it had in that time era...

Wallingford Central Hotel Fire

I skimming shadowlands.net in search for haunted locale, and read this description:

Wallingford, CT-
Shell Station on Center- Now a Texaco station. - Once a hotel that had a fire, killing most of the people inside. Then the Shell gas station was built in its place. It is now out of business because of hauntings occuring in station. Not only scaring customers but workers too.

http://theshadowlands.net/places/connecticut.htm

I looked it up, and sure enough, there was a hotel fire:

Creepy. Wonder what's going on with the location lately..

I added it to my haunted locale map, by the way!

The Ghost of J.J. Cassone?

I know that there are a lot of fabricated ghost stories out there to be heard, but my account is 100% genuine, although it does not directly involve me.

My boyfriend grew up in Port Chester, New York, and had a best friend who lived (and I believe the family still lives there today) behind J.J. Cassone's Bakery. The street, Bent Avenue, runs along the back of the bakery, along with the houses behind it, West Avenue.

I will not reveal Joe's friend's name. Although Joe still talks to him on rare occasion, I do not have permission to use his name. If Joe or I were to contact him at a later time we might let him know of my findings and see if he wants to be mentioned.

My boyfriend does not like hearing or learning of any paranormal or ghost stories, and as I've grown very interested in these types of things lately it's almost been driving him nuts. I have a thirsty appetite for learning about historical spots and locations that may be haunted in and around my own town, Greenwich, Connecticut. After hearing my boyfriend, who's usually against such things, tell his story, I was sufficiently creeped out.

After a an all-nighter of playing Playstation games, Joe and his friend fell asleep in the living room. They woke at 6 am, by the friend's mom- and only other person in the house at the time.

"Which one of you a**holes did that?" She was irritated. When they asked what was up, she told them that she was in the basement tending to laundry, when a basketball rolled up to her foot. She non-nonchalantly nudged it back behind her while she continued laundry, and the ball kicked back up past her and left a mark on the wall just next to her. I'm not sure if she heard it make an actual contact sound before flying against the wall, but would be interesting to find out.

The second (and last for my boyfriend) encounter was also creepy, but less aggressive.
His friend had a thing about going to the bathroom in his own house. Joe brought his friend to the house and waited in his car in the driveway while his friend ventured in. While sitting there, Joe saw the attic light go on. His friend mentioned beforehand no one was home before using the bathroom, so when he gets back in the car, Joe asks him why he went up into the attic.

"I used the bathroom downstairs. That must've been 'him'." Joe then proceeded to tell me how his friend's family knew their house had a spirit inside it, one that obviously manipulates objects. He also mentioned they had a priest come visit and see, but I wasn't sure of what the outcome was.

I can't imagine living in a house that experiences such phenomenon- I'd be out by the first strange occurrence. But that's just me.

So, after hearing this account and having Joe re-tell it to a few of my friends who found interest in such creepy things, I decided to do a little google-ing to see if I can find any history behind the house. I searched for news articles and web results regarding the actual address on Bent Avenue, expecting to maybe find an Obituary of someone that had died in that house if anything. Nothing regarding Bent Avenue.

Then, it occurred to me. Well, the house is so obviously close to the large Bakery in front of it, maybe something happened there? The bakery was around long enough, a worker might've died while at work, or any number of things.

Sure enough, after searching "J.J. Cassone Bakery" on google, I find a newspaper article from July 26th, 1923. J.J. Cassone, owner and founder of Bakery, shot dead on his way to work at the Bakery. I found the picture of the newspaper article on his grandson's site, who is now a local musician from Kent, Connecticut.

My mouth dropped open in wonder. Then, I thought not to get too excited, J.J. could have been shot down in a different neighborhood if he was walking to the bakery. Then, a second, more detailed article is found.

"Theresa Cassone found her husband on the path leading from the family's backyard along West Street to the bakery, bleeding from shotgun slugs fired at close range."

It was never solved. No eye witnesses, little evidence, any suspects they had were released. Did J.J.'s spirit filter into this family's house, since being in such proximity of the murder?

The fact that I learned and discovered this unsolved murder AFTER hearing the accounts of occurrences in the house is what gives it credibility. The family who lived (and again I think still might live there today) has no knowledge of that event, they are a newer family to town, and as the article mentioned, the murder was soon hushed up after occurring, as if tried to be forgotten by everyone.. Unless dug up by overly-curious people like me.

Thoughts? Comments. Feel free. Or I invite you to e-mail me directly if you wish,
my email is KAOconnor1985@yahoo.com.

Pictures below are of articles I found, of the streets behind the bakery, and two of J.J. Cassone himself.

Super Long Hiatus

I apologize for everyone out there (that still read this) for my incredibly long suspension of posts- I recently started a new job, and have been busy personally as well.

The last few weeks I've become keenly interested (again) in the paranormal and strange. I was researching the hell out of ghost/haunting legends and locale, then somehow branched off into historical research.

I found a lot of interesting information (to me, at least), like how around the corner from my house there was once an infamous sanitarium, Blythewood, which housed all sorts of people with varying levels of mental disease. In my researching of articles I found a series of strange suicides/disappearances of patients from Blythewood, including one article regarding a patient who drowned herself in a pond right by my house that I regularly visit.

My mind was blown- ever since finding this out I've been feverishly researching my town's history as well as our neighboring towns. It's amazing to me learning of things that have happened right here almost "under my nose" in a way, if it weren't just for a small thing- time periods.

It's quite suitable I delve into all this creepy stuff, October's here and fall is quite simply the perfect time.

I've also gotten into mapping out burying grounds and cemeteries, both large and small, new and old, in Fairfield county.

Once I figure out how to post my Google maps on here I will, and share with anyone who's interested all the different creepy spots I've found, whether it be a supposed haunting or just creepy because of something that had historically happened in that spot (usually going hand-in-hand anyways).

Thank you all for loyally visiting, I hope everyone is well!

Kent Tavern Ghost?

This article talks about a caveman-haunted tavern in England..

Apparently this apparition here displays the image of a caveman face, but I don't see it... Am I just too tired/spaced to notice?

If someone could point out where exactly it's seen I'd appreciate it.
