Teen Tasered At Connecticut High School After Stealing Hamburger From Cafeteria

I know this news story is old by now, but worth mentioning. I think it's a bit over the top to have tasered him, but that's just my opinion. xp
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Parents and students are outraged after police used a Taser on a teenager inside his Connecticut high school.

Middletown police say the 17-year-old student was physically and verbally fighting with school officials and a school resource officer.

That's when another officer stepped in and used a Taser.

Some observers think it was an inappropriate use of force.

"I have a lot of respect for my officers, but Tasing a kid over stealing food, that's just ridiculous,” said sophomore Geno Cuddy.

"Even if the kid is being disruptive, it's called restraining him and taking him out, not Tasing him in front of everybody and embarrassing the poor kid,” said Justina Bradley.

The student was arrested and is facing several charges.

He's being charged as a juvenile.

Fort Worth Taser Death Ruled A Homicide

This pisses me off. If he's a diagnosed schizophrenic then I'm sure his mother would've specified that when the police got to the house, and 49 seconds is seeming like a VERY long time to pump those kind of volts into someone. It's nearly a full minute!!

FORT WORTH- The Tarrant County Medical Examiner said the in-custody death of a mentally disabled man was a homicide. The ruling came on the heels of a series of CBS 11 News reports highlighting the case of Michael Jacobs Jr.

It's another black eye for the Fort Worth Police Department.

But, the Jacobs family did not comment on the ruling. They said they would speak on Friday, at a press conference to be held at their house.

On Thursday night, the house was quiet, though Michael Sr. marked a birthday. It was his own. There was little to celebrate on the day that the Medical Examiner ruled Michael Jr.'s death a homicide. The family only recently spoke of their pain. "We're in living Hell. I mean, I have a lot of good days and a lot of bad days," Charlotte Jacobs said.

"We just keep expecting him to walk through the door but," Michael Sr. said, his voice trailing off.

On April 18, Michael Jr., who suffers from schizophrenia, was off his medication. Charlotte Jacobs called 911.

Charlotte: "He's out there cursing and carrying on, jamming on stuff."
Dispatcher: "He's outside the house?"
Charlotte: "Yeah, we had to put him outside of the house."
Dispatcher: "Is he violent?"
Mother: "Hmm! Y'all better bring enforcement."

According to the Medical Examiner's report, police used a Taser on Jacobs twice. The first Taser deployment lasted 49 seconds. Then, there was a one second pause. The second taser deployment lasted five seconds.

Police Chief Jeff Halstead held a press conference soon after the Medical Examiner's ruling. "First and foremost, we wanted to extend our condolences to the family of Michael Jacobs," Halstead said.

Halstead added that, since 2001, the department has used Tasers 1,360 times. Four people died. Jacobs was the only one ruled a homicide.

Halstead would not take any questions or make any comments about the police officers involved because the case is going to a grand jury. "I can't make any comments about specifics of our investigation and I can't comment on the past behaviors of any employees," Halstead said.

City officials made statements of their own.

Mayor Mike Moncrief said, "We will continue to watch this case closely."

City council member Kathleen Hicks said, "I believe the grand jury will be able to make a final and unbiased decision."

City council member Frank Moss said, "If the chief's investigation finds that adjustments are needed, the community will count on him to make the necessary changes."

Any changes will be too late for the Jacobs family, who only wanted police to take their son to the hospital.

Gwinnett Officer Resigns After Alleged Taser Incident At Waffle House

LOGANVILLE, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County police officer is off the job following an alleged Tasing incident at a Loganville Waffle House.

A Waffle House employee told investigators that Officer Gary Miles Jr. came into the restaurant while on duty and used the Taser on the employee without provocation.

The incident happened Feb. 16 at the Waffle House in the 2700 block of Loganville Highway, police said. The department launched an investigation after its internal affairs unit received information about possible criminal conduct.

Authorities said the investigation revealed enough probable cause to arrest Miles. Miles, a six-year veteran of the force, resigned from the department this week.

Miles has been charged with one count of battery and one count of violation of oath of office. He surrendered to investigators without incident and was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

Police Shock Toy Cougar With Taser

Haha, what dumbasses! And why would they taser something that wasn't moving or growling at them, anyway?? Oh, and apparently there's video. LOL

WARREN, Mich. -- Warren police responded to a 911 call about a cougar on the prowl.

"It's huge; it's like a 150-pound cat," the caller told the operator.

Approximately 10 officers arrived at Bates Park on 14 Mile Road east of Van Dyke and saw what looked like a big cat in an old cement drainpipe.

"And I went back behind there and shined a light there -- and it's in there," said the caller.

Warren police shot a Taser at the animal -- hitting what turned out to be a large toy cougar.

Police Commissioner William Dwyer said officials now believe the incident was a prank, but he said his department could not take any chances since it was near a playground.

"We did what we had to do. We want to keep the city safe," said Dwyer.

Dwyer said the prank cost the city more than 1,000 police hours between the response from 10 officers and the paperwork they had to file.

If the prankster is caught, he or she could have to pay the city back for the wasted police officers and could face 90 days probation.

This Woman Is Hardcore!

PALMETTO, FL -- A Manatee County woman is behind bars after resisting arrest and then being Tasered as her two young children watched, according to a sheriff's report.

A van driven by Amy Solomon was pulled over for a license tag violation Tuesday evening in the 1600 block of 21st Street East. by two Manatee deputies. Her two children, ages 3 and 4, were with her.

Solomon initially said her name was Cassandra Miller, according to the officers.

As one of the deputies wrote a warning for the tag, the other asked for permission to search the van. Solomon and her two children got out of the vehicle.

The deputy then found a piece of crack cocaine on the floor between the two front seats.

As Soloman was being placed under arrest, one of the officers took the children back to the van. He then saw Solomon fighting with the other deputy. She was told to stop or she would be Tasered.

When they saw the commotion, the two children ran from the van toward their mother. They were taken back to the van when they refused to return on their on.

At that point, deputies say, Solomon kicked the deputy who was trying to arrest her. He then Tasered her twice before she became compliant.

Once inside the squad car, she gave her real name. Her license came back as suspended.

Solomon is being held in the Manatee County Jail without bond. She faces a hearing Wednesday on charges of child neglect, drug charges and resisting arrest with violence.
