Notre Dame Student Tweets ‘I Guess I’ve Lived Long Enough’ Hours Before Dying In Freak Accident

Notre Dame, Indiana – A 20-year-old Notre Dame student was killed in a tragic accident after the scissor lift he was standing on toppled over in a strong gust of wind.

Declan Sullivan worked as a member of the athletic department’s video crew and was on the lift, which extends above the field’s goal posts, recording the team practice.

Hours before the accident occurred, Sullivan sent a prophetic messages to Twitter that read: ‘Gust of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work… I guess I’ve lived long enough.’ This was followed by another at 4.06pm, that read: ‘Holy f*ck holy f*ck this is terrifying.’

At 4:50pm, the tower would fall over in a 51mph gust of wind, fatally injuring Sullivan. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said: ‘Our thoughts and prayers go out to Declan’s family and friends. Declan was a diligent student worker in our video department and had a tremendous personality and great sense of humour. He brightened the days for all that had the privilege to work with him and the Notre Dame football family will dearly miss him.’

Others are wondering why a student was even allowed on top of the lift in those conditions in the first place, a question the athletic department will have to answer eventually.

Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson dead at 30

(PEOPLE.com) -- Casey Johnson, the heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune who recently made tabloid headlines with a purported engagement to reality star Tila Tequila, has died at age 30.

Her death was announced by Tequila on her Twitter page and confirmed by police.

"Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson," Tequila wrote. "She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w/ family."'

Los Angeles police and firefighters were called to a house at 11:51 a.m. Monday. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It appears to be a natural death," says police Officer Sara Faden. "There's no evidence of foul play. A toxicology report from the coroner's office will proceed next."

Johnson, who leaves a toddler daughter Ava whom she had adopted, was the great-great granddaughter of the founder of the pharmaceutical giant, and the daughter of New York Jets owner Robert Wood Johnson.

An openly gay socialite, Johnson had a knack for attracting paparazzi -- and trouble. A nasty fight with ex-girlfriend Courtenay Semel, daughter of former Yahoo chief Terry Semel, reportedly resulted in Johnson's hair catching on fire last October. Then in November, she was arrested for allegedly breaking into another former girlfriend's house.

In December, Tequila announced the pair were engaged. "Tonight, my beautiful girlfriend has just asked me to marry her and check out this rock," the lingerie-wearing Tequila said in an Internet video. "Bam! That is a 17-carat diamond ring from my baby."

White House joins Facebook, MySpace, Twitter

The official White House Blog calls it "WhiteHouse 2.0." The administration is unveiling its membership in a trio of the social-networking leaders today: Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. How do the accounts look shortly after launch?

The Facebook page already has more than 38,000 fans, and the number appears to jump another thousand every few minutes at this hour. The MySpace page is a highly stylized version of designs typically seen on the service, with 5,300 friends and counting. "A quick glance at the profiles shows that they mostly just link to or copy entries on the existing WhiteHouse.gov blog, but they welcome comments and are quickly gathering thousands of fans," PaidContent.org says.


TechCrunch offers initial analysis of the MySpace page: "There are no ads on the page, but if you click through to photos page, then you do get some ads. The add beside this photo of the president running down a hallway with his daughter's puppy has an ad that says, 'Pimp My Profile.' Not very Presidential. On Facebook, there is an ad slot on the actual page, but I only saw a house ad for Facebook's gift shop with a penguin. ... The Facebook page basically has the same information, but presented as a stream. Which one do you like better?"

The @whitehouse Twitter feed so far has more than 10,000 followers and retweeted a swine-flu alert from the CDC. Information about the H1N1 virus is the most common theme across the White House's uses of the services today.

"Hopefully, these pages will follow the same pattern as the administration's other web efforts -- they start out underwhelming, but improve eventually," Venture Beat writes. The blog's underwhelmed headline is "Meet White House 2.0, same as White House 1.0 (but on Twitter!)"
