Woman's Body Found Wrapped in American Flag

Very Creepy..

LOS ANGELES -- Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was found wrapped in an American flag early Thursday morning.

The unidentified woman's body was discovered in the rear alley of 1160 1/2 North Madison Avenue after someone made an anonymous phone call to the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast station around 7:51 a.m.

The caller reported a "person sleeping" in an alley near Lexington Avenue Primary Center, according to Lt. John Romero.

The person reporting the woman was concerned that she might be "run over" by vehicles using the alley way.

Investigators went to the scene and found the woman wrapped in an American flag next to a wall in the alley. The woman is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, either white or Hispanic, according to Romero.

At this time, no cause of death has been determined.

"There are no obvious signs of trauma," said Romero. "We are treating the case as a homicide." It's unclear if the woman was killed at the scene or killed somewhere else and dumped in this location," Romero told KTLA reporter Manny Medrano.

An autopsy by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office was pending.

The woman's identity was being withheld pending notification of her relatives.
