QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -- After just over two hours of deliberation, a jury has found an elderly Ashland woman guilty of murder.
Shirley Skinner, 75, of Ashland, Ill., was found guilty of first-degree murder Thursday by a jury of 10 at the Adams County Courthouse in Quincy
Skinner faced three first-degree murder charges in the 2008 fatal shooting of Steven Watkins in her Ashland home.
A grand jury indictment accused Skinner of shooting the 32-year-old Watkins in the back of the head with a Glock 9mm handgun in November 2008 when Watkins had drove to Skinner's home to pick up his daughter for a court-ordered visitation.
Skinner was also found guilty of trying to hire two men to kill Watkins.
The trial was moved to Adams County from Cass County because of pre-trial publicity.
