Six Flags Haunted House Catches Fire

Back on the 9th I missed the news about the Haunted Castle attraction at Six Flags Massachusetts catching fire... Reminiscent of the horrific fire which took eight teenagers' lives back in May of 1984 at Six Flags New Jersey..

How far we've come in that time in terms of fire prevention and protection of life.. Sad still that there is no memorial of any sort honoring those victims...

CBS Springfield- The scares become a little too real at the Six Flags haunted house, as fire breaks out.

Crews were called out to the park around 8:00 Saturday night.

There were people inside the haunted house at the time, but fire officials tell CBS 3 nobody was hurt.

Alan Sirois, Agawam Deputy Fire Chief, says: "The fire consisted primarily of simulated cobwebs that were hung outside the structure. Fire was extinguished quickly. Extension was checked for and there was some very minor involvement in the exterior of the structure and the roof."

The Fright Fest section of the park was evacuated, and guests leaving tell CBS 3 they were reimbursed for their tickets.

Six Flags officials say the park remains fully operational.

Fire crews are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire Saturday night, but say they do not believe it to be suspicious.

No word on if and when the Haunted House may reopen.

Disneyland Paris Worker Dies in Apparent Accident

PARIS — Police say a cleaning man at Disneyland Paris amusement park has died after a ride he was working was accidentally turned on.

The 53-year-old employee of a park subcontractor was severely injured while working on the "It's A Small World" attraction and taken by helicopter to a hospital where he died.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the worker got trapped beneath a boat on the ride when it was inadvertently turned on before dawn Wednesday.

A Disneyland Paris spokesman said the ride has been closed until further notice as the police investigation continues.

The park is one of Europe's biggest tourist attractions.

Teenager Dies at Disneyland Paris

BBC News- French police are investigating the mysterious death of a 14-year-old girl who lost consciousness while riding on a roller coaster at Disneyland Paris.

The Spanish teenager's friends noticed she was unconscious when the RockNRoller Coaster ride had stopped.

Medical teams at the theme park tried to revive her but by the time an ambulance arrived, the girl had died.

A preliminary inspection of the roller coaster found no machinery malfunction, but the ride remains closed.

Disneyland spokesman Pieter Boterman said the ride would not reopen until the cause of the girl's death was determined.

The ride is at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Marne-la-Vallee, east of the French capital.
