Pathologist Dr Alex Olumbe told the Brisbane Magistrates Court today that 24-year-old Neelma Singh had died of strangulation.
Dr Olumbe said autopsies revealed her sister Sidhi Singh, 12, had likely died of blunt trauma to the head, while their brother Kunal Singh, 18, had drowned.
Dr Olumbe said water in the chest cavity showed Kunal was most likely still alive when he was dumped in the spa with the bodies of his sisters.
The trio was found dead in their home in the outer Brisbane suburb of Bridgeman Downs in April 2003.
Neelma's former boyfriend, Max Sica, 39, is currently facing a committal hearing for their murders.
On Tuesday the court heard gruesome evidence about their deaths.
Dr Olumbe said all three bodies were found with symmetrical lacerations to their heads.
He told the court these injuries were most likely caused by a garden pitchfork, but couldn't rule out a large wooden curry spoon or a trident from the family prayer room as possible weapons.
Dr Olumbe said Sidhi had suffered extensive head injuries, with multiple fractures and bone splintering likely caused by "severe force'' with a blunt object.
The hearing continues.
