OCOEE, Fla. -- More details have been released in the case involving a Central Florida child dying while in the care of a baby sitter who is Billy Bob Thornton's estranged daughter.
Amanda Brumfeld, 30, who was arrested last week on charges of child neglect in the October death of 1-year-old Olivia Garcia, waited more than two hours to call for help after the girl fell out of a playpen, police said.
According to police documents, Brumfeld said Olivia appeared to be OK and was even laughing after the fall.
Brumfeld sent a text message to the girl's mother, Heather Murphy, saying "Olivia can climb out of her playpen but has learned ... she has perfected the landing," according to police.
The medical examiner concluded seven months after the incident that Olivia died from blunt head trauma.
Brumfeld, a mother of three, bonded out of jail last week.
If convicted, Brumfield could get no more than 15 years in prison.
