MIAMI -- Miami police said they are investigating whether a bag of bloody clothes found on Pompano Beach might be related to body parts that were found Wednesday in Miami.A pedestrian walking near the John F. Kennedy Causeway on Wednesday morning found human body parts near the water's edge, Miami police said.
Investigators said the remains were found just before 9 a.m. near the Pelican Harbor marina, on the north side of the island off the 79th Street Causeway.
The medical examiner confirmed that the remains belonged to a human being, and some of the body's parts were missing.
On Thursday night, the medical examiner's office identified the victim as 21-year-old Osben Laparra.
There is no indication what condition the remains were in or how long they might have been in the water.
On Thursday morning, a crew that was cleaning Pompano Beach discovered a bag of bloody clothes. A representative of the Miami Police Department said evidence suggested that Thursday's discovery might be related to the case of Laparra's body. Police are investigating.
