Daily Norwalk- A total of 10 cars are involved in three accidents this morning on the Merritt Parkway north.Three people were hospitalized this morning after three separate accidents on the Merritt Parkway north between Exits 40 and 42.
At about 7:26 a.m., the Westport Fire Department responded to the report of multiple car accidents along the Merritt. Upon arrival, Westport firefighters discovered three separate accidents along to roadway between Exit 40 in Norwalk and Exit 42 in Westport involving a total of 10 cars. Norwalk firefighters were also on scene, Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kepchar said.
Firefighters checked the occupants of the cars for injuries. Three people were transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS.
State police were investigating the causes. Icy conditions were believed to have contributed, Kepchar said in a statement. Drivers were reminded to drive at safe speeds in bad weather conditions.
The last Westport fire unit left the scene by 8:34 a.m.
