WASHINGTON (AP) — An arrest warrant has been issued for an imprisoned Salvadoran immigrant in the 2001 slaying of federal intern Chandra Levy.
An individual close to the investigation said the warrant was issued for Ingmar Guandique on Tuesday. The person asked to remain anonymous because he is not authorized to discuss the case.
Guandique is in federal prison in Adelanto, Calif., for attacking two women in the same Washington park where Levy's remains were found in 2002.
The case had gone cold for years after destroying the career of former Rep. Gary Condit of California.
Investigators had questioned Guandique in Levy's slaying after he was convicted in the two other attacks.
